The Lombardy region is located between the Alps and the Po River. Its hills encompass some of the
largest Italian lakes: Lago Maggiore, Lago di Como, Lago di Garda and a numerous small and
picturesque lakes. Thanks to it's lakes and the Po River Lombardy is the water richest region in Italy.
It is, also home of the famous opera house La Scala.
Milano is the region's capital. Other important cities are Bergamo, Brescia, Como, Varese,
Sondrio, Pavia, Cremona, Mantua.
Malpensa Intercontinental airport connects the city with all corners of the world and Milan can be reached from all corners of the world as well. The city is considered that financial capital of Italy and the closest to North Europe. A good network of autostrade is a disposal of whoever would drive around the region. The railroad, as well offers an excellent connection to all Europe and behind.

Lombardy is known for its Romanesque architecture and it offers examples in each major
city. The most famous monument of the Gothic period is the Cathedral of Milan. The Renaissance
period has left splendid palaces and sumptuous churches. The Lombard painting school reached its
greatest splendor during the fifteenth century.
Leonardo da Vinci was among one of the favored at "Milanese" court of the Sforza Family
that ruled the region for over two hundred years. Particularly Lodovico Sforza better known as
Ludovico il Moro. Leonardo painted the Monna Lisa while living in Milan with the Sforzas.
